Style of this modification is different from what we use to present on our pages. Sporting character, which can be find in majority of tuning styles, is little different in case of Marsiglio Car. Don’t expect jewelly discs, massive bumpers, look at this car with eyes of lover of fast wheels. DTM races – that’s what the Italian tuner was inspired by. This Alfa Romeo was modified into the shape of full-blooded racing car. The word racing describes the purpose and the essence of this modification.

The Exterior
Such over-elaborate modification of exterior of a production car could not be seen for a long time. First to catch the attention is shifty white-red paintwork complemented with plenty of stickers of sponsoring and tuning-engaged companies. The character of race is fully present here. Massive front bumper with integrated robust opening of interesting design make us feel, that purpose of this modification is profound. The filling made of black expanded metal is a matter of course. In connection with braking efficiency improvement, at the sides of bumper were implemented openings a la shark gills – their function is to bring the air to rear brakes. In the lower part of bumper is located a large diffuser, which handles the correction of flowing air under the car.

Maybe the most interesting change in the front part of the car is removal of the typical Alfa Romeo mask in exchange for longer hood. If this was the right step made by tuners – this is a matter of opinion. First „suspicious“ thing on this car were the front headlights. I don’t remember, Alfa Romeo used to equip its cars with lights of these dimensions and shapes. The tuners knew well what they are doing, and thanks to his initiative, the original lights were replaced by headlights from Mazda 6. Smart or useless? Depends on ones taste again. Also the front hood was endowed by two vents a la Mitsubishi EVO embedded in nicely shaped projection on the hood.

It is really difficult to find words to characterizes side sills Marsiglio Car. Such number of openings, which handle the intake of cold air and off-take of hot air from and to the disc brakes, cannot be found on every car. The seriousness of this racing body kit starts to be evident. Together six openings conduct the hot air off the front brakes and four openings serves the purpose of bringing the cold air to the rear discs. The top of the milk are two round exhaust tips embedded in the rear part of these sills.

The rear part of the Alfa Romeo 156 is not worse than the rest of the bodywork. Huge dark diffuser implemented into the rear bumper strikes the eyes and indicates, that resemblance with DMT cars is not an accident. Two more openings were added to take the hot air away from rear brakes. Pleasantly shaped bumper really fits the robust rear part of the car. the cover of the trunk is characteristic with adjustable razor wing, which is known from various racing cars. Certainly, it‘s not there just to show off ;-).

All these parts of the body kit (the bumpers and side sills) continuously interlock with the aid of extended fenders, thanks to which the car gained 10 cm at every side. That’s not bad. In order to give the whole the final jazz, the popular system of vertical door opening (aka Lambo Style Doors) was installed. Do you need anything more? :-).

The whole is finalized with stylish racing 17-spoke 19-inch alloy wheels shoed in low-profile tires Yokohama, behind them are disk brakes with holes TarOx B350 with 348x26 mm in front and 340x26 mm in the rear. The last ingredient is the sporting suspension, which consists of springs Eibach and dampers with shock-absorbers Bilstein. This system lowers the clearance height by nice 35 mm. This is professional attitude!

Interior
Also the interior was Italian-affected. Its modification is work of native specialist Simoni Racing, which really enjoyed the interior adjustment of this beau. Red and black colors (mostly leather) are dominating the whole interior. This pair of colors can be found on adjusted sporting seats Simoni Racing and three-leg sporting wheel X-Race and on the gearshift lever handle made by the same manufacturer, and there are also new carpets. This two-color combination is supplemented by chromic elements – gear lever, pedal set and fire-extinguisher.

Italians have their own style as well as British have. Italian passion, sensuality and temperament lifestyle was translated to their cars. Ferrari, Alfa Romeo, Fiat – these are cars full of emotion with a decent amount of immutable charm. Italian sensitivity reflected on every single vehicle, that was made.

There could not be such a human that wouldn’t know the „snaky“ car company Alfa Romeo. Cars famous with their typical expressive front masks, which evoke only one feeling – perfection. Present model Alfa Romeo 156 represents this unique Italian style. Elegant, comfortable and fast, these are probably the most characteristic words for this sport car.

The offer of engines is really varied – the owner can choose from among five engines, two of which are petrol engines. However, the most powerful among the offered is 2.4-litre Diesel 5-cylinder, which cooperates with powerful turbo. The maximum power, which can be produced by this system is 175 horse powers (129 kW) and torque 385 Nm. Outstanding performance and bloodthirsty design make of this car a high placed individual.

LEGEND: Alfa Romeo has high hopes for the new Giulietta which revives a name from the firm's glorious past

This is sure going to be an exciting year for the South African motor industry, a hopeful year after the recession.

Many carmakers are slowly but surely pushing units off the showroom floors.

After years of failing to convince the market about their products, Fiat Auto SA is hoping that the new Alfa Romeo Giulietta will do the trick.

Launched in Cape Town last week, the new Giulietta was expected to be a solution to the Italian manufacturers' woes. How is Giulietta going to resuscitate the battling brand?

The answer is simple, according to the big guns at Fiat Auto SA - Giulietta's strong heritage and technological brains will do the job.

The Giulietta first took the world by storm in 1954 and 10 years later made its way into SA.

The Italian giant announced its intentions to bring Giulietta back to life a few years ago and the news was well received the world over.

The Giulietta , a five-door hatchback with obvious Alfa Romeo genes, is capable of expressing both great agility on the most demanding routes and providing comfort on everyday journeys.

This is largely attributable to Alfa Romeo's new Compact platform.

The new Giulietta generated a lot of interest from the world media after it appeared at the 2010 Geneva motor show. This, according to Oscar Rivoli, managing director of Fiat Auto SA, was a strong indication that the car would be well received by the often difficult South African market.

However, it won't be smooth sailing for the Italian princess as she is up against strong competition.

The Giulietta is directly positioned against the three market leaders: VW Golf, BMW 1 series and Audi A3.

How realistic is this? The Italians say they are confident that the Giulietta's spec levels and looks will sell it. Although the Giulietta is a perfect hot hatch and undoubtedly one of the most beautiful looking cars, this is going to be a tough job.

Despite all the market challenges, the Giulietta proved its worth on Cape Town roads during the launch.

The new Alfa comes wearing a hero's cap in the form of a five star Euro NCap safety rating.

The Compact platform allows the Giulietta to accommodate the needs of different owners - driving satisfaction and comfort can be adapted to specific needs thanks to the Alfa DNA selector which customises the vehicle's behaviour to suit different road conditions and driving styles. Three different driving modes can be selected - Dynamic, Normal and All Weather.

The DNA selector - fitted as standard to the entire Giulietta range - is designed to modify the operating parameters of the engine, gearbox, steering system and Q2 electronic differential in addition to the behaviour logic of the Vehicle Dynamic Control system (VDC).

The Giulietta was launched with three petrol engines, all linked to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Alfa Romeo offers a five-year 150000km warranty on the new Giulietta. Linked to this is a six-year/90000km service plan for the 1.4-litre models (with service intervals of 30000km) and a six-year/105000km service plan for the flagship 1750 TBi which features 35000km service intervals - a benchmark in the highly contested C-segment class.

Replacing the dated Alfa Romeo 147, the Giulietta (pronounced ‘Ju-li-et-ta’) will be available in Australia in two specification levels: the Giulietta 1.4 TB MultiAir and the range-topping Giulietta QV 1750 TBi. Both are available with a six-speed manual transmission only.

The 1.4 TB MultiAir features the engine from the MiTo QV, producing 125kW and 250Nm of torque. Combined cycle fuel consumption is a very tidy 5.8 litres/100km and CO2 emissions average 134g/km. Acceleration from 0-100km/h takes 7.8 seconds.

The top-spec variant – the QV 1750 TBi – is a genuine hot hatch, with 173kW of power and 340Nm of torque. Acceleration from 0-100km/h takes just 6.8 seconds and its top speed is 242km/h. Fuel consumption is good enough at 7.6 litres/100km, and it emits CO2 at a rate of 177g/km.

At 4351mm long, 1798mm wide, 1465mm tall and with a 2634mm wheelbase, the Giulietta is 128mm longer, 69mm wider, 23mm taller and has an 88mm longer wheelbase than the 147. Curb weight is also up from 1200kg-1360kg of the 147 to 1290kg-1320kg for the Giulietta. Its luggage capacity of 350 litres is on par with other small hatches.

The Giulietta sits on an all-new platform and is one of the safest small cars on the market. In last year’s Euro NCAP testing, the Giulietta recorded an overall score of 87/100 (97 percent in the Adult Occupant test, 85 percent Child Occupant, 63 percent Pedestrian Protection, 86 percent Safety Assist).

Both variants come with six airbags, ABS with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), electronic stability control, cornering brake control, dynamic steering torque, hydraulic brake assist and a new pre-fill function for the brakes.

The 1.4 TB MultiAir gets 17-inch alloy wheels, while the QV 1750 TBi adds 18-inch alloys, lowered suspension, red brake calipers, dark tinted windows and Cloverleaf badging.

Outside, the headlights and taillights employ LED technology, making them brighter and more efficient than standard lamps. Daytime running lights, rear parking sensors, and front and rear fog lights are also standard on both models.

The 2011 Alfa Romeo Giulietta is available in Australia now, with prices starting at $36,990 for the Giulietta 1.4 TB MultiAir and $41,990 for the Giulietta QV 1750 TBi.
